Tackling Enormous Moving Challenges – One Step At A Time

In the last month, Simplified Lives started helping two different clients with huge moving projects. We also continued to help a client we started working with last fall. The three have separate challenges; the following is a thumbnail sketch about how we help our clients facing enormous moving projects.

The first person to write about is a gentleman, a widower, living in a huge house in an upscale suburb of Boston.  He (and his recently deceased wife) lived in this house for over 40 years. They do not have additional homes; this house is the sole home where they have displayed their artwork collections, set up personal offices/workshops, kept their collections while traveling the world, and raised their children.  There are three floors and a basement — and every inch of space is being used.  It is a stunning home; and now the gentleman is moving into an assisted living community.

Simplified Lives staff is helping the gentleman, and his children, over the next couple of months, to sort and organize every room, closet, and storage space.  We are working with his design person to help figure out what will be moving to the new location.  We are helping the children decide what to take now, and what they may want to keep in storage.  We are helping to determine what to do with all the incredible items that will be left behind.  We will be working with his real estate agent to be sure the house is in perfect condition to go on the market.

The second client that Simplified Lives is helping during the winter, and early spring, is a couple with an incredible piece of oceanfront property, that has been in their family for many generations.  The property has one large main house, with several outbuildings and a large barn.  Every single building is filled to the rafters.  The couple has wanted to sell the property for several years, but they were too overwhelmed with how to manage all of the personal things they have stored in the house and all of the buildings on the property.

Simplified Lives will be helping to assess items in each building through our professional sorting and organizing process.  We are helping the couple determine what they want to keep, and what should be sold, or just removed. Through our efficient and knowledgeable sorting and organizing, we will enable our clients to make decisions about what to move and what to include in a special estate sale. We are helping the couple by tackling one building at a time.

The third family that we have been helping has a large family property, with two additional buildings on the main family property, a second home (in a neighboring town) that has been in the family for centuries, and another house that hosts a family business and has an attic and basement filled top to bottom. Three distinct addresses!  The resident of the main family home is moving into a smaller home that is being built in the same town.

Simplified Lives has helped with sorting and organizing, and packing for the person moving into the new home, as well as helping all of the family members who want items out of the main property. We also helped in the home that has been in the family for centuries (that has had decades of family treasures put into the big attic!).  Further, we helped sort and organize at the family business, situated in a unique building in a tiny New England village.  Each of the properties has required a separate plan.  We will be continuing our work this spring, when we move our client into the new home that is almost finished.

At Simplified Lives we specialize in complicated moves!  We have been in business for over ten years — and we have the incredible staff and resources to do it!

If you are facing a moving challenge, give us a call.  There is absolutely no cost to have a consultation, regardless of whether you have a big house — or acres of property with multiple buildings.  We would love to see you!
