Happy “Almost” Spring!

Do you wonder if the staff at Simplified Lives sees a lot of interesting things that make us say, “What were they thinking?!”

Well, I recently went through a house that had so many baskets that I did wonder, “What were they thinking?!”  OMG there were baskets of every conceivable shape and size.  Most of them looked like they once held fresh flower arrangements or dried arrangements but this client lived in their house for about 40 years and they told me they had not gotten rid of a single basket! We are talking about picnic baskets, pie baskets, old Easter baskets, small suitcase baskets, baskets for the beach…

The back wall of a two-car garage held shelves completely full of baskets, there was an entire room in their basement with shelf after shelf of baskets, and baskets were hanging from the ceiling!  There was not business reason for keeping all of the baskets, but I may have heard, “Well, we may find a use for them.”

We have also seen collections of baskets that are incredibly valuable pieces of art, and we see baskets from sources around the world.  I was in a house several years ago, that had many valuable baskets (the dining room of the house was floor to ceiling with priceless baskets) the collector had an eye and a passion; many of the baskets went into a museum after the collector died because the family did not have the capacity to keep all of the baskets that had been collected.

We are going to help this client de-clutter their basement and garage space.  I think they will feel great when they have a selection of usable baskets on one shelf.  We will help them with resources to sell any baskets that have market value, and we will help them donate any baskets that have usability that are not saleable.

If you have SPRING CLEANING PROJECT that you’d like help with – give us a call!  Maybe it is time to clean-out your gardening room or your garage?

We are counting the days until Spring!
