How We Help Clients with Floor Plans

Yea it really is Spring!

I just looked out my kitchen window, and there are tiny green buds on the tree in the yard!

It will not be long before it is time to move heavy winter (and dark-colored) clothing to the place where we store off-season clothing.  This change of season clothing swap is the perfect time to get rid of clothes that you did not wear all winter – and spring clothes that either do not fit or you do not like (in other words….you are not going to wear them!)

When we help our clients move, assisting them with floor plans, we measure the closet rods of the new home or apartment into which they are moving.  We know exactly how many “wardrobe boxes” it will take to fill closet space. If you are not moving, but need to declutter, we can help sort and organize the winter clothing to go into home closets (such as cedar closets), or into the space in a home basement or attic where our client stores off-season clothing.  Some of our clients store their off-season clothing at the dry cleaners; we can help sort and organize the switch between what the cleaners are delivering and what our client wants to send them to store over the summer.

Honestly, if you have not worn something all this past winter (even though it was not a frigid winter) maybe it is time to “let go” of that item, or items!  We can help you determine whether items should be sold or donated.

In addition to helping our clients figure out what will fit into their closet space, we help our clients by producing a complete floor plan.  This extraordinarily good idea helps our clients know exactly what will fit into their new home. We never send items that we know will not fit and we will not send too many chairs, tables, and big pieces of furniture.  Sometimes we do encourage our clients to take an extra side table or two, and lamps, because it is better to have a few extra places to set things, and good lighting, than to say, “I wish I had brought the other lamp!” And those smaller items are pretty easy to remove if they are not needed.

We have helped clients buy new bed frames that have big drawers, for storage, under the bed.  This is a perfect space for bulking sweaters, other off-season clothing, bedding (think flannel sheets stored for the summer months!), and beach towels and beach bags over the winter.  We really do help our clients make good decisions on how to use their closet space and how to set up their home in the most attractive, safe, and comfortable manner. We also work closely with interior design professionals.

If you could use some help getting your closet decluttered – and you are ready to get out your spring clothing – give us a call!  We offer a free consultation!
