‘Tis the Season to Be Benevolent

This fall and winter, the staff at Simplified Lives have had the privilege of working with a client who has been collecting many treasures, for many years.  We have been sorting and organizing throughout the home, and our client has graciously decided to donate many things that she does not need or is not able to use.

Through a connection made by Simplified Lives staff member, Katie Hart, we have donated everything possible to Pine Street Inn in Boston (www.pinestreetinn.org).  This is an excerpt from a letter we recently received from Kathy Conley, M. Ed. LSW, Veteran’s Clinical Supervisor, Pine Street Inn.

“I would like to take a moment to express my thanks and appreciation for your recent donation to  Pine Street Inn….It may seem like a small thing but our homeless women oftentimes feel overlooked, judged and/or forgotten…It is amazing how self-esteem can be elevated when one feels that someone cares for them…Our homeless women do not always have the means to treat themselves to feminine/personal care items that other women may take for granted…

As well, the housewares that were donated (ex: kitchen items, radios, art, books linen etc.) all being given to our homeless veterans for their new apartments.  After having lived either on the streets or in emergency shelters, our veterans tend to feel sad and hopeless. When we are finally able to help them obtain permanent housing, the little things like bath towels, blankets, sheets, Tupperware containers, curtains, pots/pans, kitchen utensils, etc. help to make their new apartment feel more like “Home”.

As you can imagine, the staff at Simplified Lives is extremely happy that we have such a generous client – and that the connection has been made with Pine Street Inn!

If you have been “collecting many items, for many years” – and you could use some help getting de-cluttered in the New Year – we would love to help you!  We can donate items to Pine Street Inn, or a charity of your choice.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
