TIS THE SEASON TO BAKE!

I truly love to bake – and to cook!  Maybe because we live in New England, and it is cool a good part of the year, I am better at baking and cooking in colder weather!  I enjoy making food for comfort; to have my home cozy and filled with enticing aromas.

If you are getting ready to bake for the season – this is the perfect time to assess the age of your baking products and spices!  If you look at your baking powder and baking soda – you may be surprised that their dates have expired!  It is not worth the effort to bake something wonderful – if your baking products are out of date; they simply will not work as well (if they work at all) to produce your intended result.

At Simplified Lives we help people declutter and organize – and we work in many kitchens and pantries.  Over half of the time, we help people get rid of outdated spices and cooking products! If you have staff to help you in your home, it may be a good idea to have them purge the pantry for outdated items.

The spices that you use all the time – are probably fresh and within the suggested “use by date”.  If you have spices that you use infrequently, even though the jar is half full, if the spice says “use by 2018” – it has lost too much of its pungency to be used.

Maybe it is time to get professional help cleaning out your cabinets and pantry?  Really big kitchens and pantries are fabulous; they have tons of cabinets and storage!   What we also find, they have many more nooks and crannies where outdated products “hide”!  Make Simplified Lives a resolution for 2022 – we can help you declutter!

Time to splurge! Go buy new spices and baking products – and enjoy the season to bake!
