Cooler Weather; time to reorganize your linen closet!

One of the best things about cooler fall weather is flannel sheets! A few years ago, I discovered “6 oz.” flannel sheets and they are very cozy!

When I buy a new set of sheets, I make myself pull an older set of sheets out of my linen closet. The old sheets get donated to a pet shelter or household goods donation center.

It is surprising to the staff at Simplified Lives, how many people just keep adding new bedding and towels into already jam-packed linen closets!

When we help people sort and organize linen closets, we take out sheet sets for mattresses our client’s no longer even have in the house. We find children-themed bedding, and the children have grown and left home. We find old bedding in bins in the attic.

Our advise is only keep 2-3 sets of bedding for beds currently in use.

Donate all other bedding to pet shelters or household goods donation centers. Pet shelters are in desperate need for soft fabric to use in pet cages; the condition of your old bedding and towels (including old beach towels) does not matter to the animals! Look online for a local pet shelter.

And, as the weather gets colder, swap out your percale sheets for something cozy in flannel!
